So, some factors that have caused me to swing much more to introvert this week:
- my work stuff: dealing with new interns, meetings, tech logistics that are out of my comfort zone by a lot, and a cluster-fuck that isn't technically something that I have to deal with or is my fault, but still sucks
- [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance 's work stuff: laid off for a few weeks. Now, before you flip out on me, keep in mind this isn't tech job laid off where you have to start all over. This is carpenter laid off, which means between projects. Mind you, last time it was for 3 months. This is not going to happen like that this time. But as I'm the primary worrier (and bill payer- hm, you'd think there's a correlation there or something) I worry anyway, more than q_e by a bit.
- my phone is breaking. It's a flip phone and one of the joints that holds it together has given up the ghost. I don't want to deal with buying a new phone right now. Really. I hate-hate-hate Verizon. They make me pay for my texting, so I don't as much as possible. Also, I don't have a full sized keyboard, which makes it way slow. Next one I will give up and get one with a real keyboard. This may be sooner than later
- logistics for the see-my-in-laws trip in early April are now done, but the misunderstanding with my SiL was pretty spectacular and I failed the booking lottery by a day and the price tag for this trip is now at least $150 more expensive, which always pisses me off. But, it's done.
- I'm still overly congested. Not as sick as [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror by a fair bit, but I can't go for long without a tissue.

And with these non-life threatening but niggly/stressful things buzzing about me, I decide to go to a notoriously busy hot foods party? Hah! I hid. So, if you didn't see me or didn't see me for more than 30 seconds, that would be why. Sorry. I didn't realize how appropriate my "Do you want to check your hit points . . .  before or after I slap you?" would be when I put it on :/

The plus field:
+ I still don't work down a mine (best said with a Yorkshire accent)
+ The Proactiv treatment is a bit slow, but there was a LOT a lot of damage, which is now in repair rather than have more of stage. I've been keeping pretty steady with the photo journaling of it, but given my usual lighting conditions, I'm not sure it's helpful. All of the pics have me looking pained (that I'm taking my own picture) and exhausted usually. But still: soon! Soon, my skin won't look like a war zone.
+ Despite illness, I stuck to 3x/week gym plan and I feel like my efforts over the last many months are yielding visible results that are obvious to myself and my companions.
+ I've had several good small-group encounters this week and two separate ones today, even.

It seemed a good and wise thing to balance the bad list with a good one.

It was good to see you, even it was just for those 30 seconds.

"Go you!" on the gym stuff.

My phone did the same thing (Cracked joint on the flip.) If you are looking it fix it, check eBay for phones with broken screens (the most common thing to kill a phone) and buy it cheap. Swap the guts and you are back in business.

P.S. I'm with Verizon too, so I feel your texting pain.

I'm sorry I missed you at HF. (I was also "hiding out," in the cooler kitchen table nook most of my time there, from about 7pm on.)

But I enjoyed Tuesday evening.

I hope you don't go live nor work down a mine. I mean, I'd *try* to visit, but they just never make the ceilings high enough for me to stand, never mind stretch.

I'm glad you came. Even if I only saw you for a little bit. And *with sympathy* my phone would not recharge today.. so also for the replacement phone which I'd rather not be dealing with right now.

...about the whole mess, and about not being more clueful/helpful in response.

Seriously!?

No one else had that problem! I wonder why you did. They were all the same, and the lady at the post office here said they'd be fine! So sorry. You can just let it go. It's not a big deal.

Catching up on the more important stuff...

I'm sad that I couldn't um, distract you when you hiding out at the Hot Foods party. Though that might have worked against the whole 'needing to have alone quiet time' vibe.

::misses you and actually understands very well about sometimes needing to hide out::
