Gearing up

mizarchivistThe weekend to Long Island is fast approaching for Bookteacher and Mangosteen's wedding. I've not been in a wedding since I was in grade school, and never in the lieutenant position. edit: that is, when I wasn't the one getting married. However, I have to say, Bookteacher has been more undemanding than most brides.
I'm rather unsentimental when it comes to the frantic consumerism that comes with the pageantry of a full-bore wedding. I think it's a waste, which is why my wedding was almost entirely directed by my most excellent mom when I got hitched... just 2 weeks shy of 5 years, actually.
Bookteacher, however, is conscientious to the point of mania and took on the direction and/or doing of what needed doing herself. I almost feel like I was supposed to do more: torn between relief and almost guilt sheepish grin
So, we'll be driving rather than bussing or flying to The Island. The bus would mean we'd lose 2 days to travel, really. No thanks. The truck is now safe with fresh oil and a new front wheel bearing. The inside of the truck is as pristine as a 10 yr. old truck (that has been a work truck for most of its time with us that a truck) could be without a wet-dry industrial vac.
Phade has been equipped with a fresh blazer- Note: DON'T go to Men's Wearhouse if you can help it. They're scary. The place on 3 South we found was run by a super-cool guy who helped us find something that looked fantastic on Phade and was majorly on sale. big grin
My purple dress is shortened and ready. I am planning to post some pics when we return. It's a kick-ass dress.

Gosh, I think that the 6+ years of friendship and getting me through some of the more...interesting...moments of my life was plenty of work! Don't you? ;^)
