If you had a $10 max. a mixed gender group of attendees, and limited to shopping in the Beacon Hill/Downtown Crossing area, what would you get? I am trying to avoid sugary stuff in deference to the dieters. I'm entirely unmotivated and uninspired. ETA: Thanks, everybody! I found a neat mug/plate set at TJ's. (And neat socks for mumsey)

For amusement value, one of the Chia pets, Walgreens and the like usually have them.

Starbucks or DD gift cards also work.

With Yankee Swaps, remember that you don't have to please everyone; you only have to please one person. I would consider going to:

TJ Maxx -- they have reasonable and very inexpensive housewares (I recently got 12 stemless wine glasses for $12!), often have SUPER FUN SOCKS, mittens, etc.

Fridays, a bunch of craftspeople set up booths along Winter St (or is that Summer St? At DTX, anyway) and I'd check that out, too.

I second TJ Maxx. There will be something neutral and appropriate there.

Gawd I hate office Yankee Swaps and Secret Santa.

I don't mind SS, but the swaps are so based on judgment and mocking, I hate them

A gift certificate to Copley Flair on School Street, maybe?

A fun coffee mug or travel mug? Scratch tickets? A Dunkies gift card? (That was one of the most coveted gifts in my building's Yankee Swap this year.)

Gift Card to DD or the closest coffee place or sandwich shop that people in the building frequent. Gift Cards are totally the "I have no idea what to get people" Gifts.

Pound of coffee or two, pick up a funky tea cup at a second hand store and buy a box of tea to wrap up with it. Nuts. I second the fun sox idea. I LOVE funky sox. A funky bookmark. A Wine glass with some simple wine charms.

Good luck!

A very frilly pair of men’s undies in a size that nobody will be able to wear. :-)
