PAX, continued
So, it turns out
samuraizergling is a resourceful dude +10, as he scored 2 extra get into concert wrist bands, so my initial pessimism was for naught. I had figured R. should go given her hard core dedication. I'm glad we didn't have to make that decision.
The day sort of went in a blur.
We attended the musician's panel. Sitting in line was fun thanks to a chance meeting of recent acquaintances and a deck of Quiddler cards.

There was more hanging out following that. I ended up spotting Gabe in the hall (he has a video entourage, so easy to spot) so I was that guy and got his autograph. Revised image of the autograph card will have to wait until later, as Miss R. was helping me get JoCo's today since I was skipping today.
SamauraiZ, R.- and 2 random new friends and I went off to Steve's for Greek food for dinner. And given our keenness on the music, we just queued up after that. For some reason they gave us pipe cleaners to play with. More new friends made and more Quiddler played. We got in early enough and had wrist bands that we got killer spots

The Video Game Orchestra took forever to set up and then had a looong set that our small crew sort of didn't care about. They were standing between us and the main events. By the end of the night we'd been standing for at least 4 hours- and we're just not that young anymore.
Totally worth it-

Paul and Storm get groovy.
Oh- and did you hear? Wil Wheaton helped with Trololo

and then eventually- JoCo.

Here are the videos I took for that. Weegee- you have a must-see in there.
I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did. The random interactions with strangers really made a very good day that much better.
eta: here's the beginning of WW's keynote. 6 parts total.
eta2: Recursive Wil Wheaton.

WW was making a big deal on Twitter about not being late to the show. What happened at the beginning that was So Awesome, or was it the video game thing he was going on about?

#PAX just witnessed the greatest performance of Mister Fancypants in the entire history of life.
Really?

(also, I'm in Awe of your video-taking and uploading prowess. How would you like to help me make 2 very short vids (instructional, maybe 1-2 minutes long each) and teach me how to upload them to YouTube? I'd buy you a yummy dinner for your troubles...)

Regarding Youtube/uploading: I can help you with that if you like, but there's really not much to it. I will email you with what I think it entails. I suspect it might be worth a cookie, but not quite a dinner. :)

...
I watched it twice and sadly, wasn't quite able to make out what WW said in his JLP voice. Thought watching him do an imitation of Patrick Stewart might well have been one of the hottest things I've seen in a long time. I mean, what's not to lust?

I'd not seen that episode before, though. I may love WW, but I haven't added all of TNG on my backlog video play list :)
