Time for change

It'll be over 90 again today. This season has been long anticipated and Friday will be the day when I do something about it and this braid icon will be the one that'll be the outmoded one and my LOL-archivist one more definitive.
I've never been one to hold on to one style of hair for very long, and inevitably I find the care of long hair to be more trouble than its worth. At this stage it's braided and out of my way 95% of the time. On hair washing days (Lush is excellent enough this is only required every other day) it'll be decidedly still damp by the end of the day when braided. It's heavy. Etc.
I grew it out  because I kept having dreams about having long hair. Well, I've successfully done that and now I get to do my butch pixie impression again. Mom (who arrives TOMORROW!!) and I will have a salon day on Friday- haircut, lunch, pedicure.  I'll see about getting one last glam shot of the long hair down between now and then. There will certainly be pictures of the new-old look after the weekend.

I may have decided this anyway given the weather, but badlittlemonkey 's plunge into short is a lovely catalyst.

I'm enjoying short hair after 20 years of long. And the good thing is, it will always grow if we change our minds. Enjoy your short cut! :-)

Oh cool. I wanted to donate, but not necessarily to Locks of Love- thanks! I just got the envelope together so I can do it as soon as it's off my head.

Do you know of a place that does this just for kids? Liam wants to donate but has that stipulation for where his hair goes.

My initial search in the googly one indicates there's lots of options beyond Locks of Love, which is not necessarily the ideal- I don't know anything about any of them, tough.

I've only ever donated to Locks of Love (LoL) and the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program.

Wikipedia says in order to get a wig from LoL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locks_of_Love), you have to be under 21 so it meets Liam's criteria, but (as you'll note in the Wikipedia article) there have been some past issues with LoL that may or may not deter donating to them. The LoL Wikipedia article also links to a few other hair donation programs, so maybe one of those would also suit?

putting my hair back up tonight, I thought of another reason to cut it now - when you don't have the pregnancy hormones keeping it from falling out, there's a chance it will. And that's way less irritating with short hair. (I'm shedding like crazy today, why do you ask?)
