I had a major win on the dream field this morning.
Like so many, I dream about having to go back to school (could be any level of grade school, btw. Last night was jr. high) as a way to express my stress.

Typical issues with going back include not finding my locker, not having my schedule, not knowing where class is... anything that would prevent me from attending class, in other words.

Someone drove a steam-powered engine into the front hall of the school. Wow, the principal was pissed! I watched the whole thing instead of going outside when the alarm sounded because the contents of my over-full backpack decided to fall all over the place and I had to get it back in.

I was given a packet of information that supposedly included my class schedule, but everything got muddled when I shoved everything into my bag for the train incident. I went to the head office to get the locker situation dealt with. I was getting somewhere on this point. I was shown my locker (whose number was about 10 digits long with a lot of zeros in a row just to confuse me)- the lock itself was unreadable, like it was encrusted with sandstone or something. I told them it was unacceptable and I was given another locker that did have a readable dial lock. Mind you, the corridor it was in was only about two feet wide. Win some- lose some.

The class schedule issue I was tenacious on. I found an information desk staffed by students and they helped me decipher which piece of paper was the schedule. It was the size of a large index card, black and shiny. The classes were poorly copied jpg or tifs, also very dark and pretty much unreadable. I think they were starting to figure that out. By this time, of course, it was 9am and I'd missed first period. When an official person pointed this out, I reminded them things were fucked anyway given the whole train incident.

Cut to being "promoted" to something like quartermaster for gym class. I was responsible for organzing the uniform bottoms and safety glasses to students. [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror's sister, Julie was helping me out. She had a knack of getting the lenses of the safety glasses back into the frames, which was done so with I think suction cups and definitely a zipper.
I was trying to organize the pants, which looked suspiciously like the jammy bottoms I bought [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance for xmas: regular pant, not shorts, black with red and yellow flames at the cuffs. I needed to get them sorted by size and on hangers.
Then I the alarm went off again.
So, go me!

I'm thinking today will be a less cranky day. No more football hooligans, circling helicopters. Yeah, that'll help. I had a lot of fun at Diesel last night. I went with beads and clay creatures. I'd brought them out in public with the hopes of selling some of it off. This is not something I do often, after I discovered how expectation and reality almost never come close for me. I love my creations and I used to believe that others would see my genius, blahblahblah. So, going in w/ very low expecations on profit and large expecation on having a good point of conversation.
As it turns out, very little hard currency was procured, but I traded with a woman of my acquaintance who does Reiki in Somerville. I've never had Reiki before, so it'll be an experiment. This was likely the only way I'd have tried it (by trading for it) as if I'm going to spend money on not technically necessary stuff, it'd be for lexington rec center membership or really good chocolate or Frye boots. Mmmmmmmmm- booooooooooots. drool

Excellent. She'd asked me if you might even be vaguely interested in such a trade, and I encouraged her to at least offer it. I'm so glad you thought it was a good idea. Yay!

Also, tell me how it is. It's one of those things I've been meaning to try as well, but....

What size Frye boots do you wear? I have a pair of Frye lace-ups that are a little too small for me; I wear an 8 1/2 women's. I'd be happy to get rid of them for cheap, if you don't mind lace-ups rather than engineer boots.
