A random collection of observations:
  • As expected, bags are often more interesting than toys. We will graduate to cardboard boxes and sticks when he gets finer motor control.
  • There are now 4 teeth
  • There is less falling over when sitting up, but no forward locomotion. Yet.
  • Food is starting to actually stay in his mouth, not just act like the world's nastiest skin beauty treatment We were at Rudy's for dinner and he was OK with queso, and definitely without a doubt had interest in both beans and rice. Dinner times definitely include a solid food aspect now. The beans and rice thing is sort of a big deal because the oatmeal I'd gotten him generally is part of the beauty regimen, not part of the sustenance. So, no more narsty baby oatmeal. No problem. We discovered what formula's like this week. Apparently it doesn't perturb him in the least. Food is food.
  • He is managing to not have stranger anxiety thus far. I hope that continues past my parents' visit in a few weeks. They will be here between Easter and Patriots' Day.
  • He's not quite saying real protowords on purpose, but I think he's practicing a lot to himself.
  • [livejournal.com profile] entrope swears he knows the sign for milk now, but I've not seen definitive proof.
  • I had a dream that he crawled out of his crib and was standing in the middle of the upstairs hall a few days ago. It was startling in its clarity, so I expect it's a fairly accurate view of the future.
  • Next week he'll be 7 months.

Your son is still one of the most awesome things about my week. He's amazing.

I sign milk at him about half the time when I say milk to him, but I have not yet seen him use it. But I'm not super on the ball about it, so there's that.

We're still practicing crawling. By which I mean, push-ups, but they're good for me.

I like you!

Well that makes sense. And it's totally a win. He's communicating! In ways we can almost understand.

So cute! (And so bald! :)

I may be weird in that I know when Patriots Day is but had to look up Easter.

Also, I am in favor of no baby oatmeal.

We learned early on that kiddo would sit and eat chopped olives without end while at a restaurant if we let him.
The baby oatmeal was always iffy.

Yay for queso, beans and rice, though!

I'm pretty sure Thing 1 and quite sure Thing 2 liked lemon slices quite a bit. Also I think both of them had vehement negative responses to baby oatmeal.

He's great!

Both my girls got to the point where they ate up the product of my daily pumping, so finished up their time at daycare/sitter/grandma with a bottle of formula. But I was able to nurse them both exclusively on nights and weekends without any trouble, and did so with E until she was over two (M lost interest in nursing just before her first birthday--the little contrarian). (BTW, I highly recommend toddler nursing. It generally resolves all toddler calamities in about two minutes.)

One thing that my girls both ate was the seasoned firm tofu blocks (from White Wave?) that I cut up into teeny cubes.

Watched the video you uploaded. So much a tradition to abandon the toys in favor of the packaging. I think ours finally switched to being more interested in the toys around age 2...
