Expanding kid-care list

I'm in the market to find a few more people, particularly daytime, to give quiet_elegance a break and/or when he has classes to teach (like the next two Tuesdays).

So curiosity, since we haven't really had anyone else doing kidcare yet. What is the typical rate?

if you choose to do daycare they run around $1000/mo
a nanny for infant care is around $20-$23/hr (for older kids it's less, for more kids it's a little more.)
most sitters are around $10-$15/hr

we have bartered care from time to time. But for the most part, as you can see it's expensive, we've not had a lot of time out at the same time.

Yeah, what Kero said. This is why I stopped looking for full time care. QE is SAHD until there's a solid job option for him.... except of course there's inevitably there are days when he has to do stuff w/out the kid.

This may be what was answered, but now I'm not sure.

What I meant was the typical rate for what you're requesting here. As in, is this a post asking for favors or offering a job? Do friends get paid less? I'm just at such a loss as to how to approach all this.

ah, sorry.
I'm capable of paying, but probably no more than what Kero lists as Sitter Rate. My current sitters are willing to do me the kindness of 12/hour. That feels like charity rates because I know they deserve so much more.

Once I'm done with school, I'd be happy to watch Crimefighter once in a while. I finish, officially, on May 20th, but I believe classes end on May 10th, and my work schedule is pretty (intentionally) light until Bump arrives.
