I wanted to note before I get distracted by the normal pattern of a day, but my kid is more a kid than a baby these days--
Here, let me show you:
Here, let me show you:
On the way back from NYC, early May
Yeah.
Quick list of accomplishments-
- He will find any one thing in a room he's not supposed to touch, and go touch it. Preferably with his mouth. Like when he came with Daddy to see me at work recently. There was only the phone cord/jack that was really problematic. Found it in less than 3 minutes.
- He's more teleporting than crawling. Standing/pulling up, yep. He can show the WWE some wrestling moves if you like.
- Tooth wise, only sort of seen one more since the Month 7 check-in.
- "ma" "da" and "ba" are all favorite noises to make. Sometimes it's even seeming to be directed at mom, milk, dad, or bottle. Definitely proto.
- New favorite food of all time: corn on the cob. It took him a few shots to manipulate the awkward cob shape, but when I broke off the bottom end with the stalk bit still attached, he systematically destroyed it last night. And it being cold means it must feel good on his itchy gums. Most other food seems to be a welcome thing. Preferably if it's mine. Of course. He even lets me spoon food into his mouth, which he then swallows. Mostly he'd rather do it himself.
- We bought a baby penitentiary for him last week and have it set up in the kitchen with all his toys in. It's good for now. He'll stay preoccupied, particularly if there's a non-toy toy (like a paper bag) in there and I can finish making my lunch or taking a shower without fear. Sometimes I'll move it so I'm standing in there with him while I wash dishes.
- When he's frustrated or bored or just goofing, he'll do some finger babble. I consider that weapons-grade cute.
- QE's doing a great job with instilling the regular routine and he doesn't get inconsolable when left to take a nap. QE's doing a great job, full stop, really.
- Apparently he's my kid, as he's just not shy. His "study his prey" stage of interaction is much shorter and he jumps to grin and charm as quickly as possible.
- On the less great side- he can be a bit rough. He can get bitey when he's over-tired. He also gets excited and waps at those he's trying to interact with. Hair, glasses, and noses are his preferred targets. We're trying to get him into the idea of "gentle hands," but so far no real headway.
TL:DR-- still exhibiting weapons-grade cute much of the time. Yay baby. :)
