I tried. I really tried. However, I do not have Dansko-compatible feet. I currently own a pair of distressed brown leather Danskos, size 39. I was assured that after a while my feet would get used to them, and this is not what happened. I took them to the cobbler to try to stretch them out a bit, to no avail.

I would like to see these gorgeous and seriously hardly used clogs go to someone who will wear them. Given how little I've used them and how little discretionary money I have at the moment, I am hoping someone will be willing to give me some portion of the original cost, which was in the $120-130 range.

I've been meaning to post this for the better part of a month now. So, here we go. If I fail to get responses here, I'll resort to inquiring unto Facebook. Please don't make me do it, though.

ETA OK, claimed! Thanks so much for the feedback. Let the bitching about how Danskos aren't as great as they are purported to be commence. XXOO

Dammit, these were supposed to be the answer to the fact my Born Mary-Janes are really worn out and I need new everyday shoes. I'm not fond of shopping for sensible shoes, I'm so often disappointed.

Just to say, I'm in the same situation vis a vis Danskos. Everyone told me I would love them and they would be the most comfortable shoes ever. Not. At least not for my feet.

Sorry. And sorry I'm not lining up here to buy.

Ditto here. As luck would have it, I bought mine during a special sale so was able to sell them for the same price to a very happy buyer. A friend is convinced that her Danskos exacerbated the car accident she was in, resulting in a shattered ankle. I thought that sounded like an odd thing, but two Dansko-lovers in the room totally supported the allegation. One said that's why she won't wear hers while driving. Seriously, even people I know who love them have major complaints, so I just don't get it.

My feet are too small for your shoes, but I will *highly* recommend Merrell. I'm about to buy my 4th (5th?) pair of the same Merrell clogs. I wear them all day every day 3 seasons of the year unless there's fresh snow that will get into them, and I adore them. And Danskos never felt right to me either, FWIW.

Ditto on both items (I wear a 36). I love all of my Merrells, and much as I prefer buying online, I did have a helpful shoe salesperson (a long-time employee trusted by my mother) explain that Merrells can vary a bit in shape, so you may have to try on 2+ pairs to find ones that fit you. This was definitely true for me -- my first pair of Encore Breeze 2 that I got online did NOT fit, but when I went in to a store a few months later, that pair fit fine!

Anyway, I own the Encore Breeze (second pair; first lasted many years), the Angelic Slip Ons (can be a bit tight in the toes), and some mid-calf boots they don't seem to make anymore. I haven't tried the Luxe line yet, but they are very pretty.

They might be too small for me, but I'm willing to give them a shot. If they fit, I'd happily take you shoe shopping and buy your new ones for you. If not, I'm still willing to be shopping company. I could totally treat you like a client, find you a comfy seat and bring everything to you, make it a real pampering experience.

I feel your pain. I can never get Danskos that fit right, either. (You should try to eBay them if you can't get any takers; betcha they'd be grabbed up at $70 or even $80.)

And I also love Born, but my new faves are my Alegria (http://www.zappos.com/alegria-womens-shoes~2)s. They have a few different Mary Jane styles -- I have the Paloma, but there's Belle and Dayna and Kaitlyn -- and when I bought my pair, I found that even their other slip-on styles felt all wrong on my feet, whereas the Mary Jane strap keeps my feet from riding forward and getting all squished into the toe box. So that might be a factor for you too. Berks in Harvard Square might still carry these, if you want to shop locally/try them on in person.

Like others, I can't wear Danskos, despite several valiant attempts and general love of the Dansko aesthetic. In your hunt for comfortable shoes, you might try Naot and/or Clark's, both of which are quality and comfortable (to me and so possibly also to you).

I love Merrells, Borns, and Clarks for comfort. I've also had a bit of good luck at Aldo (my awesome stompy boots were from there). Good luck! I'm looking for new boots myself at the moment so I feel your pain.

Ooh, I think I may have the same problem! Who took them? I think the ones I have are size 39 or 40 (I wear a US 9). My sister gave them to me when they did not work for her, though generally Danskos do. They are boring black, virtually never worn, and I'd be happy to see them in a new home.
