In the wake of destruction, let's think about not destruction. Tell me something(s) you did today or very recently that you're happy about.

I didn't have to go to work today.
Today it was sunny and felt like spring. The forsythia's out, which means everything will turn green in time for my birthday, as usual.
I got to visit with [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey and little Roo all morning and up through a delicious lunch. The kids played. Crime Fighter did his best to charm Roo, except when she was using a toy he wanted. It's like they're toddlers.
I took a nap while Crime Fighter napped.
[livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance insisted I go do... something this afternoon while they went on a really long walk. I chose 8 mile bike ride all the way up to Lexington Center and back. (um, ow? derp)
Dinner was delicious.
There was ice cream after dinner. Ice cream and grade A pestering from [livejournal.com profile] fubar along the way. Bonus, hugs from [livejournal.com profile] asciikitty on her way home.

How about you?

I spent a lovely afternoon walking in the spring air with a friend around her community's land and woods a ways away from my normal life, talking about things both deep and surface, painful and happy, in a relaxed emotional place that I haven't been in for a while. It was good.

You know? I made a knitter today. I might even have made two.

I do that ALL THE TIME. I make crafters. I should remember that when it starts to feel like a slog.

My weekend was, nearly perfectly, amazing. Full of friends and celebration and joy in a new marriage, a new home, and a new decade on this earth.

Today, I organized several piles of paper that have been mocking me for years and got rid of about a 1/3 of it, put another 1/3 into proper storage, and will be working through the rest.

Tomorrow, I'm going walkabout, to reclaim this city as Mine on what looks to be a stunning spring day. In the process, I'll (hopefully) see three of the important people in my life.

Life is pretty good, right now.

I went for a nice long walk in perfect weather, and my cat was very snuggly.

I made a broccoli and cheddar quiche and a wild mushrooms, shallots, and gruyere quiche. I also got the ingredients to make french onion soup and onion soup later this week.

*big hugs*
I made things grow. I felt a strong need to put flowers in the ground, like a living memorial. adding pretty to a world that can be so very ugly.

I still feel joy at playing "I'm going to catch your feet" with CF and his giggles. It reminds me of Monsters, Inc., where they discovered the power of the laughter of children.

On Sunday, I found someone's credit card in the grocery store parking lot. Today, I was surprised when the (local MA) issuing bank picked up their phone when I called to report it. They said to mail it to them, so I walked over to the post office to do so. It was a lovely day for that sort of walk.

I spent the day out with Xander, first at Foss Park in Winter Hill for Somerville's little Patriots Day celebration. He got to run around and explore, and applaud the Somerville HS marching band, and we saw the re-enacted Paul Revere's ride. I took him up to see the horses ("horsie! horsie!"), but when I asked if he wanted to pet them, he repeatedly refused. :-} After they left he got to play at the nearby toddler playground, too.

We had tasty Indian food for lunch in Arlington with [livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books, at Punjab, right near your house. Xander had a blast playing with the bead chain curtains in the middle of the dining room. Then we walked up to Henry Bear's Park, where he played with lots of different toys. I found a pirate bandana hat with matching eyepatch that I thought was cute; when I asked him if he wanted to wear it, he said -- no shit, [livejournal.com profile] bedfull_o_books heard it also -- "Heck no!" *gigglesnort*

He was napping in the carseat on the way back home when I heard the news, so he didn't immediately have to deal with a freaking-out mama.

at all points yesterday I was surrounded by people I love and who love me. We cooked food and drank tea, we hugged one another, we practiced the good and important things in life.
