Where did we leave our heroin(e)?
This week's FAQ....
Q- Are you moved into the new house yet?
A- No.
Q- Why?!
A- Inspectors (there are many) haven't signed off
Q- WTFF?
A- Yeah, I know.
Q- No, really.... WTFF?? Shouldn't you be more upset by all this?
A- I have run out of shits to give.
Q- Where are you right now?
A-
asciikitty's parents' house in Newton. Hopefully til we can for reals move into the house we signed a lease for
Q- Oh, so you did the lease thing?
A- Yeah, on Tuesday.
Q- So, really, what's the deal with these inspectors?
A- Well, sadly, you can't schedule a visit ahead of time. All work must be done. One inspection informs other inspections. It's a series. There's also some grumpy officials in Arlington who've been dealing with builders breaking rules, and they're not having any more faffing about. So, this being an "exception to the regular rule" permit (No, I don't know details), it really has to be done to a T. Even if we succeed in luring the plumbing inspector out Friday/tomorrow, no guarantee we'll pass the inspection(s). So, we can't plan for bringing the movers back to bring stuff in til it's all wholly legal. If there's stuff in the house, the inspectors will call foul.
Q- Anything I can do?
A- Not yet? Not unless you can make city inspectors show up when they say and give passing grades. Once we have all that, then we'll call the movers back, they'll put all the boxes in the house. Then we unpack, rebuild furniture... probably not all in one day ;) The day we do move in, if it's not a school day, we WILL need babysitting.
So that's what's up. Feel free to ask missed questions, preferably on this topic, and I'll answer in comments.
