OK. What's up with rushing to criticize the second someone is announced as the new face of [fill in the name of fictional person, usually superhero].

First of all, the original source material? Drawn. Nobody can live up to that. Second, every fan's idealized version of that character has a heavy overlay of nostalgia making the human choice even more unbearable. The movie is not even in production yet, and everyone slags the director, producer, and star. Yes, it might be the worst thing since the last worst thing. Or it might be Serenity. Why don't we wait until it's out and we've had time to think about it before we damn the enterprise with derision and snark.

Entirely related: no more "eat a sandwich." Just stop it. I'm telling myself this, too. I've been at fault and no more.

Well said.

On sandwich-eating: I want people to mind their own beeswax regarding which sandwiches I do or do not eat, and should extend other people that same courtesy.

I'm clearly missing a side order of context here.

I believe she is referring to this (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2013/12/04/gal-gadot-wonder-woman-movie/3869533/).

I see. I have something of a... THING for Wonder Woman. It will be interesting to see what Snyder makes of the multitude of legends and lore around the character.

Yeah, the only context I had was my friend's piece, which is also in reaction to a lot of other peoples' reactions. But, it's well-written and I think tackles the issue pretty well:

I'm glad you liked it! Zach is one of my favorite people. Went to Hampshire, now he works with Andy. He'll be at Arisia, maybe you'll meet him.

Thanks for the pointer. The problematical natures of Zach Snyder films is something that could be discussed at length but I generally have enjoyed his work.

And I have to disagree with the "muscle weight" comment. I've not liked any depiction of WW that did not at least superficially resemble a... you know, Amazonian. A Wonder Woman who looks like a runway model is going to make me want to hurl.

Because derision and snark pay off now and waiting for it takes time. Immediate gratification for the win! (or loose).

This article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2013/12/04/waiting-for-gadot-there-is-a-wonder-woman-and-the-internet-is-upset/) said something very similar, with a good bit more humor and stick poking at the internet getting its panties in a twist. I particularly liked the last paragraph (no spoilers, sweetie).

Gosh you have nimble fingers. Impressive.
And as for Dash, a splendid development from snuggly to tights?
Can't wait to see you all.
