I knew but didn't know that sorting out art show check in is a silly, fiddly yak-shaving sort of deal. Unless you only have one or two pieces, it's unlikely you can get it done in less than an hour.

My procedure for art show is that I create a booklet (at least historically I have) of all the bid sheets. Given the volume and individual sizes of the items I show, the last thing I want is to have the majority of my table real estate dedicated to goddamn bid sheets. So, book.  Because it's me, I have to have all the pieces follow in a logical order around the table. No helter-skelter. This means mapping out how the table will look when I go in and be damn sure it'll stay that way so it's not confusing to run through the bid sheet book, because I may call them damn bid sheets, but I also very much want people to write in them.

Last night I:

  • created display for new jewelry that has special display needs/problem solved how it'll not fall over (it's an upright tube. It's tippy)

  • dug out oddments and accoutrements

  • reviewed content, separating out items that didn't make the cut and rehousing one box of stuff that needed it.

  • put new findings on the ornaments

  • tested out the small ornament display and found it to be entirely reasonable

  • set up the mock up display of the table, with a lot of feedback from [livejournal.com profile] asciikitty

  • set prices (ditto with the help)

  • numbered everything, decided order for check-in

  • checked in

  • proof check

  • packed it all up

  • borrowed asciikitty's rolling luggage, which was just a teeny bit bigger than the one I have. It means I will have the most compact and easy to move inventory and display peripherals I've ever had.... ever. SQUEE!

Now I just have to temporarily unpack that box to have [livejournal.com profile] drwex take pictures of the new product and not forget my business cards. I love that I'm not going to do this last-minute.

I am SO looking forward to seeing your stuff in person.

Just sayin'. I hope you'll be around the art show even a little, to show it all off and narrate how you made it.
