Goodbye, Rick

QE's best friend succumbed last night after living with cancer for the last few years. Rick Scales was a generous, outgoing, LOUD, and loving guy. He'd do anything for you if he could. He was the big brother that QE always wanted. The plowed snow in the winter together... the job that he has right now was supposed to have been Rick's, but he got too sick. QE taking this job was a tribute to Rick- so that he would know the site was being taken care of by someone who knew what he was doing.  His youngest daughter is only 11 or 12.

And another dearly loved soul gone too soon. Fuck cancer.

Oh gods. I am so sorry. Rick's poor family.

Pretty much. It's awful.

This wasn't a sudden/surprise. He'd been given a shitty prognosis a few months ago. So, with that as the base-line, they're proceeding as well as one can when you lose someone. And I don't know. Probably. As my husband would say: not their first rodeo.
