Birthday Weekend
Amy arrived on Thursday night. We spent a lot of time squeeing at each other because she's here, she's really here!! My bestest friend that I've had since before I could talk is finally visiting me after a whole child's (hers) lifetime. 19 years as adults and her first visit to me since I moved away. Epic fun to be had...!
Which was somewhat sidelined by a visit to the ENT for me after I'd been having some not-small issues breathing well at night.
I thought I was going in for a 20 min visit, which would then get a follow-up where STUFF happened.
I gave my medical history and symptoms. He poked a scope up my nose
And found... Well, we don't KNOW what. But something. I will not share further what as it's gross, and it'd been there for who knows how long, but it blocked up my whole left side of my nose. It's now being examined in a lab. The unidentified nasal object (UNO) did not want to leave, and was not wholly removed apparently. However, he had to curtail further work while I am awake. Add to this, I have polyps and a deviated septum. If you're going to major activities to that degree, do it all at once.
As it was, there has been an immediate change for me.
I ... stopped sniffling, which was something I realize now I always did, despite my efforts to curtail it.
Further, I ... could smell... TIME. Just ... EVERYTHING. This was both good and bad yesterday. Today has calmed down remarkably now that my body's gotten used to the new state of affairs. The fish display and cleaning aisle at the grocery store were horrid. The dinner Friday night (steak, fresh biscuits, salad, and roasted brussel sprouts) were the most delicious things I'd ever tasted.
The current notion is a CAT scan to see the status of the inside of my head, then schedule a procedure to fix all that needs fixing. The doctor says it'll likely take 6 days to recover, so not something I can just casually set up.
After I talk to my primary care doctor, I may likely change specialists, as I was not fond of this man's lack of discretion, his decision making, his rushing, and my gut is telling me to be elsewhere. So, unless there's a very compelling reason to stick with him, I'll be visiting another doctor for all that.
The rest of the day was a bit distracted with my post-doctor visit self and perpetually asking "do you smell that, too, or is that just me?"- but Amy and I had a lot of fun. We headed out to Back Bay. We visited the Church of the Covenant, spontaneously. It's a gorgeous gothic style cathedral (half-sized, so perfect for Back Bay) with Tiffany windows. I strongly recommend taking a real tour (they're on Newbury St. near the Garden) or at least a virtual one. The initial goal of Newbury besides to show the neighborhood was because I wanted to go to Warby Parker and pick out sunglasses. Which I did:

I won't have them for a few weeks but at least I can be assured they're the right ones.
Thai food for lunch across from the BPL and a spontaneous visit to
lifecollage, who gave us a spontaneous tour of the library. I had not visited the revamped space. The teen room: amazing. The kid room: even more amazing. I have to chisel out some free time when the library's open to take the kid.
Our final Friday destination was to Central Sq. Back home for dinner with the fam +
asciikitty's bff, P.
Saturday was pretty laid back. Amy and the kid hung out. Groceries were got. Cupcakes were eaten. Dinner at Olivios with these crazy kids:

This morning Amy the kid and I did a quick tour of Porter and an extra abridged visit to Harvard. I feel like Lush should give me some sort of commission for making so many conversions. Tonight: we SKATE. I have a playlist... cutting it to only 2 hours is hard.

Turns out I shouldn't have cut the play list down, as they either gave up or didn't have as diverse a library as all that, as I had to go in after 45 min. and fix the list. :P Sheesh.

Yeah, this guy? Total jackass. Did not like. I'm reveling in the capacity to listen to my gut. Sadly, my PCP has pneumonia and so getting her 2 cents is not an option today. Poor lady.

That sucks for your PCP :/

Fun party - thanks for having it.

Re party: Yes! I'm hoping to find an excuse to make another of those happen for no particular reason... particularly if I'm not The Host. Then I won't have any obligation to randomly chat when there's skating to me done.

Totally find someone else, and I am totally here as a patient advocate/hand holder as needed. Just give me some warning so I can plan my day.
Skating. Was. Awesome. and I would be up for co-hosting a thing. Maybe. Let me think on it.
Wheeeeeeeeeee!

skate. party!
One without a theme and a broader invite list will likely make for a more relaxed time for all. IMO.
