This should be... interesting.
I'm glad I'm not on heavy medication all the time. It's really cramping my writing style.
Quick sum-up....
- no physical activity for 10 days. (Suddenly don't know how I'll be getting to work, which involves walking half a mile)
- If your kid starts to snore randomly one day, take that kid to the doctor. She may have a paint brush, or at least part of one, tickling her brain. I DID! Or at least that's our running theory. Because not everyone loves visual evidence, I leave that out. I do have a picture though.
-Kingsman... not a movie for me
-But apparently Drop Dead Diva I can watch 2 episodes. I could point to my mom and say "She made me," but really, I'm fascinated to see how they might turn it around. At least it had more diversity than Kingsman. Not that Kingsman is a particularly high bar.

Ohhhh, gettin' my snark on
Strike 1. Table of white dude clones who "rule the world"
Strike 2. Woman's husband dies and she becomes a piece of trash
Strike 3. Wow, a disabled woman of color (ah. CG-ed in disability...) ...? Is basically an evil fembot, henchman to the only (evil) named male POC.
Strike 4. Of the 2 female recruits, of course one is used as an object lesson and she dies.
If it redeemed itself, I wasn't willing to sit through more ridiculous over the top 3-D effects wasted on me on a 2-D presentation to see how yet another misunderstood wunderkind saves the day.
Thanks for the pointer to CinemaSins.
Re: Ohhhh, gettin' my snark on
There were some decent Bond-film deconstructionist bits here and there, and one could lay blame on the parody's source material for other failures (their take on the Bond-gets-the-girl trope, for example, is no more misogynist than the original; another low bar there, sigh) but all in all I think you made the right call in bailing.
The CinemaSins video is under 14 minutes long, and the actual sins bit is only 12 of that, so it's probably worth a watch so you can snark the rest of the movie by proxy without watching the whole thing. :-)

On Kingsman - I asked
Re: Ohhhh, gettin' my snark on
Spoilers but this was one of my favorite reviews:
http://threatquality.com/2015/02/08/is-jupiter-ascending-the-best-space-opera-of-all-time-and-also-the-best-movie/
I read that before the movie and honestly I think it made the movie better; I was able to gleefully look forward to those moments (ymmv)
