Arlington Open Studios-- Reminder, this is this coming weekend!

I may have been remiss in explicitly stating that I'm participating in Arlington Open Studios for the 2nd time - it's this Sat/Sun: Oct 17-18 from 12-5 each day.

Unlike other Open Studio events in the area, this is all in one location on Foster St. off Mass. Ave. I generally like the idea of all the artists in one location. I don't have to hope my specific house is on a street people are willing to walk down. Also maybe I'm not super-keen on random strangers visiting my house, so that.

I will be on the 2nd floor in the hallway going into the gym. I will be also selling dryer balls and hand-spun yarn for asciikitty {technically I did most of the spinning on that yarn, but I'm donating all sales to her future planning fund}- Plus, I have the usual clay-covered upcycled boxes. The latest feature/fancy box is a Furiosa/Mad Max theme.

Anyway- I apologize for being mostly radio-silent about this activity that's actually quite important to me.  If you think you're likely to go, let me know!

This weekend is quite packed, but I will put this on the calendar on the off chance we skip a pre-existing plan or if weather precludes the outside stuff.

There is definitely a convenience in an art fair where everybody is in one location, but then it's not an open studios event, since there are no studios that are open. I guess they call it that because someone thought it sounded cooler than art fair? Or did it used to be an actual open studios and then they switched it for logistical reasons?

I actually believe that there ARE several studios in the space where open studios takes place, and those are open, but then also there's all the artists from elseArlington who get to have tables and stuff.

I'm not certain there are actual permanent studios there. If I get a chance to ask the origin of this town's choice for this event with the technically mis-leading name, I will. And maybe even report back.

As far as I know, it's at least supposed to be for Arlington residents.

There are permanent studios, up on the Second Floor. The second floor to which you refer (where we will be) is called the First Floor. It's all very confusing.
