Grammy update
Dad says that the memory clinic can say with 99.7% accuracy that my last remaining grandparent definitely has Alzheimer's.
Ok. Good to know, I guess. Having a label for what's happening is helpful.
Mom and Dad are going to keep her for a few weeks to give my aunt a break soon.
A visit to the homestead in July is in the works. Dad and I are going to arrange so Grammy will be there, too.

thanks for the good vibes
In this case, at least, a label like "alzheimer's" doesn't freak me out very much right now. I had known for a long time that my grandmother doesn't remember things. She is blessed with attentive children who are looking out for her. She is mostly cheerful and happy and grateful despite her blank spots.
Going home is always in some form a trial, given the whirl-windness of it, the expense- yadda yadda. The grammy aspect will be a bit more stressful, but I'm just looking forward to seeing her. Even if she may not remember me all the time. I'm someone who appreciates her and wants to spend time with her. That's the important bit, right? Right.
[fyi: my email is acting very stupid at the moment- I'll let the mostly-local/family folk know of the greater travel plan when it starts behaving again]
