... rather than because I'm cranky and need to bitch. Woo!
I managed to hit the right balance of nutrient intake and I feel very alert and -finally- ready to work.
I still love Pat Benetar. She does a great job making the day cheerier- and I was already in a good mood.
What group is your comfort music? I have lots, but Ani, Indigo Girls, and Pat Benetar reign. Oh, and BNL will frequently make me smile involuntarily.

music that cheers me up?
aerosmith, boston, davinci's notebook, no doubt, oingo boingo, TMBG, and just about anything bluesy (clapton, SRV, bb king) so long as it has a killer lead guitar :)

I am very glad to hear that you're in a good mood.

As for music, BNL works pretty well for me, as does Fleetwood Mac and (early) Tori Amos.

What group is your comfort music?

Beatles, Garth Brooks, Uncle Bonsai, Indigo Girls, Jewel, Dixie Chicks, Melissa Etheridge -- not in any particular order. And, really, almost any classic-rock or "music of the 70s and 80s" station will often do the trick :)

I have a bunch of country music that I listen to that I think you may not want to listen too. I also listen to alot of Turku, Bow Thayer and the Euphorians, Tea Party as well as Classic Rock and 80's stuff.

I just stuck Ellis Paul in the CD player because I decided my apartment needed a bit more joy in it. Er, ok, not Ellis Paul himself, he'd surely break the CD tray if I tried to stuff him in there. But the disc, you know. I *heart* Ellis.

Joni Mitchell's Blue always makes me happy, too. And Indigo Girls can be counted on to get me singing. Moxy Fruvous, of course. Sometimes Dar Williams. Ani Difranco usually makes me nostalgic, often for times I was lonely or ripshit mad and played her, so I find she's not such good happy-place listening.

Right now my 'happy place' music is Metallica off the Garage days album 'So What?'

Ya gotta love it when James cranks out the "So Fucking what?!?"
I would kill for an Amy Kay 80's dance mix :)

Comfort Music

Ultravox. Sometimes I could listen to them and only them for a week.

Spyro Gyra.

Marillion. The early stuff fronted by Fish (not Phish).

The B-52s.

Psychedelic Furs.

And there are days, warm sunny days, when the proper attitude towards life requires speakers placed out the window and Tom Petty and/or Bruce Springsteen blasting just under distortion volume. Even the losers get lucky sometimes.

My instant cheer-up song is Fleetwood Mac's, "Don't Stop". Especially the version from The Dance, which has the brass section playing along.

FYI: The additional sax player that you saw with us on Wednesday played on Pat Benetar's blues record. :)

Comfort music... depends on what kind of comfort I actually need. :) I'm gonna have to go with Miles Davis. Or maybe, uh... Extreme.

I agree with all you mentioned

and I will unflinchingly state that Rusted Root is my ultimate good time feel-good booty-shaking release music. mmmmm . . . drums!!!!!

I also, ever so occasionally, will rock out to Neil Diamond. I can admit it.
