The visit thus far
Parents arrived Wednesday,
hung out with caulay and ahf (who agree with me that I have the coolest parents ever) then had the house to ourselves for a few hours. We did typical stuff for us: hung out, listened to music, had coffee and snacks, did arty stuff.
K made fantastic chicken for dinner and we subjected the 'rents to Eddie Izzard, who is still fantastic :)
Yesterday was a trip into town. Met New Fearless Leader, showed off a 15th century bible- Dad has pretty much demanded (ok, not really) to get digi pics of some of the illuminated bits. A good idea anyway for our "spotlight in the collection"- Dad can then direct to the pen and script folk whom he talks to. More free advertizing? OK.
Sam LaGrassa's is still fantastic. Burdick's delicous, and Bob Slate a dangerous territory unless one has unlimited cash. The one on Harvard Sq. makes me so nostalgic for Mom's old art store. And I think I really may want one of everything.
Mom and I decided a trip to paint a plate would be just the thing. The older woman (possibly owner) could easily be another one of Mom's new best friends. I did a really cool new swirly pattern and ma did an adorable tribute to our dead cat Cosmo. Not that the picture is squealy cute in a crying clowns and elvis way- but in a "hey- what a fantastic picture of a tabby" kinda way.
Off to Moody St. to Soleca (sp?) the Tapas bar in the rain (rain on christmas eve eve? Yep. OK. The balmy weather did make city trekking more fun at least)- Had fantastic food and wine. It's fun to watch dad loosen up and tell stories. K had a port flight that made him happy. Back to the house for Mom's first watching of Ocean's 11.
To Maine this morning as soon as everyone's awake n' stuff.
I wish my parents didn't live 10 hours away.
