Person who donanated his ancestor's archivally interesting and good material put a whole bunch of images in a (watch your eyes, screaming ahead-)

STICKY-BACK PAGED ALBUM

It is obvious it's a new compilation. Good thing. But I've already had to hold my breath as I peel a thinner than paper thin image of great grandma. It won't be the last. The temptation to call this guy and bitch him out for being so stupid is overwhelming.

Hey, it's 4:15 already. Screw this, I'm going home! It can wait til Tuesday. I'm off to pack for Arisia (squeeeee!)

Do you have a good microspatula?

Also, a heated spatula can be really useful when dealing with contact-sensitive adhesives (I haven't worked with sticky-leaved albums, but it works well with scotch tape in the first few stages).

I thought if you just leave those alone for about six months, the adhesive turns to dust and all the pictures fall out anyway?

Yeah, having wreaked utter acidic havoc in the meanwhile. No...bad, bad, bad, always.

It's true -- contact-sensitive adhesives (or the more liquid components of them) migrate into the materials they're stuck to. This can make paper translucent and/or brittle, and it can mobilize some inks. The adhesive only turns to dust when all the plasticizers have migrated into the adjacent materials.

Something I read once...

Freezing adhesives tends to make them not so adhesiv-ie.
