Riding in a Rut til the Powers Cut
I've been feeling like I've been at a very low point with interacting and energy levels.
And I realize that having the weather resemble dog's breath (K and I agreed walking home from getting our takeout last night that it was as if we were walking through an infinte amount of dog breath.) Is that why they call it the dog days of summer?!
Anyway, between that, being at the low point of my cycle, and who knows what else, the past several days I've done little to nothing despite the opportunity for some real fun social interaction.
I woke up this morning, did my exercises and finally felt energized by them rather than dragged down. My dreadful sit-at-the-computer posture has done a number on my neck, but at least today it's no worse. This is my cue to call the eye doctor already since the origin of the hunching is squinting at the damned screen.
The past week my coworker and I have interviewed catalogers. "A" was a solid dud and "B" and "C" are a tough choice. B has a lot of qualifications and enthusiasm but already has a full time job (ours is up to 15 hours and not permanent). C will not have a job by September. She's also qualified but doesn't have specific theological knowledge. I'm kinda glad the final decision is my coworker's, not mine, although I'm leaning towards C over B.
Robin is off to Maine for the week, so I'll be running back and forth between my office and the reading room depending on how many researchers show up. Given I've been interrupted 3 times while making this post, I'll call it close enough.

Also, I'm right there with you on the "I'm hunching forward 'cause I just can't see!" thing at work. Once I get back, I'm getting new lenses/glasses, preferably from a "real" optician. I'm looking forward to this, though it might mean bifocals at this point. Eeep!
BTW, I've conferred with El Mango and we are definitely coming on the 14th, barring complete insanity on the trip. So, see you then, and I'll be buying a piece of fabric in accordance with your criteria during the days off I've got on the other end of the trip.

And I'm looking forward to spending some time with you tomorrow night. Not to mention lunch today.

What exercizes do you do?
(Kind of on my mind lately.)

It all started when my friend, Joe (aka Saetyr), a Physical Therapist in training, suggested this book to ze spouse and myself:
Core Performance. What I am doing from the book are some exercises Joe thought would assist me with making my middle bits stronger- and after 2 months, there's a noticable difference. What is particularly useful is that Joe personalized it, checked to see that I'm doing it right, then set me on my way. The only equipment I need for this is a jumprope for the stretches (or any length of rope of handy length will do), a clean piece of floor and either a chair or steps for the push ups and "dips".
All this doesn't take care of cardio- I try to go on bike rides, walks, or whatever as I can, but I feel less guilty about maybe not managing to do so on X day since at least I'm doing the strength building, which will certainly make the cardio easier when I do it.
You are welcome to ask me more about this, although in person so I can show you some of it would be ideal.
I hope you get a program that works!

I'm now checking out that book -- and thanking you for reminding me I wanted to talk to him about this, too! (and maybe I'll try to pick your brain a bit sometime, too!)
