So, I'm certain whatever I do on Saturday will involve a costume, and I'm remarkably blaise thus far.
In the hopes I come up with a clever idea, I ask you, the audience:
1. are you dressing up?
2. If yes, as what?
3. Do you have any realistic ideas for me considering I'm limited in time and money and prefer something that's street-legal.

Thoughts I've had thus far is: Wash, Harry Potter, and the old reliable psychedelic hallucination(thought up in college- extrapolate as you will). This involves temporary hair dye, a trip to get the wildest set of tights ever (maybe 2 sets), and possibly body paint.
edit: Ok, probably going w/ Hallucination because I already have all the bits- except for the tights. Has anyone seen any swirly colorful representations? I've looked at Super Socks in Downtown Crossing and the temporary Halloween shop in Davis w/ no love. My backup plan is to paint some plain ones, but that sounds like *work*.

I am going with my typical Hogwarts student costume (slytherin of course).

Let's see....togas are usually really easy, but not warm.

http://www.robinsfyi.com/holidays/halloween/costumes.htm has a scarecrow that you could do -- oversized flannel shirt, blue jeans [or overalls!], stuffing.

I like their Miss America costume too -- take any formal gown, get a wide ribbon [or paper] sash that says "Miss America" on it. Tiara, too, but hey.

Their black-eyed P is cute, especially because the band is popular now.

Also, if you have all black, I have a spider-y long thing I got at a FFF that might work. it's a spider-web mesh, with long sleeves, no tie, and it goes to about my knees, I think.

I also have an Indian top and bottom, kinda like a belly dancer costume without the jangles. That'd be cold for going outside, since it's a halter or similar-length spaghetti-strap top, and a skirt above the knees.

You're welcome to borrow any of those.

I think a 17th-century French mathematician is an excellent costume!

I was going to make a pun along these lines, but thinking of it as a pun costume might work. If you had the right garb, yet lounged around in some obvious half-done state projecting an "i don't care" attitude, the blaise/blase' pun might work.

One of my best costumes ever was a duo I did with my first wife. We dressed in our most geekish con-gear - buttons, fen T shirts, carrying stacks of sf books and pocket programs and generally nerded up to the extreme. Whenever anyone asked what our costume was, we would kiss vociferously because we were...

Given the weather, I'm probably going to choose the Jedi costume over the Classic-Trek chick one - the Jedi one's a lot warmer!

As for dressing up, not really decided. If so, probably as my "pseudo-ren. faire guy".

Sorry, no real suggestions for you, though I like the thought that comes to mind for your "Psychedelic Hallucination" (I mean really, it involves you in tights and body paint, what's not to like?).

I don't have any ideas for you but I would LOVE to cross paths with out whilst party-hopping. I'm getting my hugs ready...for YOU. ;-)

I'm having the same dilemma. I want to dress up for work that day, but everything I have that's fun to wear is rather inappropriate for the work place. I really really wanna wear my big black boots though! Gotta put something together that'll work with them without totally blowing my cover as a mild mannered massage therapy instructor.

Wash's costume is easy enough to do - just takes bad Hawaiian shirt, and a couple of plastic dinosaurs. ::grins::

For the hallucination - going to have a goldfish on a leash? ;)

Any hints, since that's what I'm planning on doing? Other than, say, bleaching my hair and finding someone to play Zoe? ;)
