Survived

The weekend that is.

Today's a bored meeting and I'm all dressed up even wearing heels. I have no idea how long *that* will last. I have backup foot wear, so I await the inevitable.

Mandi's headed back to Michigan. It was a laid back visit, at least I think so. The first visits were much more tense, but I've learned to believe that we need not go-go-go in order to have a real visit.

The party Saturday was much more laid back and smaller than last month's, which was nice... but now I have 4 ziplocks of jello shots in the freezer. Oops! They'll keep, thankfully. Thanks to all who came and made the evening so groovy

Long story short, I bought Angel season 1 yesterday... a bit of a gamble given I've not watched much of it yet but had every intention of starting as my new TV addiction, since Buffy will soon be nothing but reruns. I think it'll be a good investment- they do not have it syndicated on any network and not renting at Ballbuster yet... only selling. So, here begins the new vampire addiction!

<smiles an innocent, though wickedly sharp smile> Hey, little, girl, want some candy? Or, in this case, something almost as good as the Angel DVDs?

See, I came to Angel about mid 2nd season through M and had some catching up to do so I read all the scripts, which are quite interesting... check them out here (http://studiesinwords.de/angel.html). I mean, remember Spin the Bottle? Where Lorne spent most of the episode tied up?
Lorne, back on stage: "`Okay. First of all she didn't say may your words please the gods so much as may you orally please the gods, which is a slight... (We hear some muted laughter from the audience) Well, inflection is very crucial in our... Ah! God bless her. It's always nice to hear the mother tongue---as long as it's not from {my} mother."'

Lorne looks around and taps the microphone he is holding.

Lorne: "`Is this on? (Lowers the mic) And secondly (and we're back at the hotel zooming in on Fred) I didn't know that a couple of hours ago Fred had tried to kill her evil professor by opening a portal. (Close on Wes) Gunn didn't know that Wesley had helped her. (Close on Gunn) Wesley didn't know that Gunn had killed the guy himself to save Fred from becoming a killer. (From Fred) And Fred didn't know (to Gunn) that Gunn was right then figuring (to Wes) out that Wesley had helped her try."'

Lorne on stage: "`So you can see that I didn't have all the facts when I started this. It's my job to read people, but nobody in this clan was exactly singing. And me? Hey I was thinking about Cordelia."
So, if you find time to start reading, you may find the scripts as highly entertaining as the shows ;)

Hm, such a shame to watch Angel without a mob of people. Maybe we should get together or something for that. :)

two notes

1. Angel S1 was...dicey. The show really didn't hit its stride until S3. The current season has been consistantly better than Buffy this year.

2. Ballbuster sucks rancid donkey balls. I strongly recommend netflix (http://netflix.com/) if you are too far away from a real video store.

What he said about Ballbuster. The only time we rent from there is on the first Friday of a new release, at 11pm when they've all sold out; so that we get a free certificate to rent it another day, with no money expended. :)

I recommend Video Horizons in Arlington Heights; about 1/2 mile past the Mass Ave/Park Ave intersection as you come from Lexington; near the Dunkin Donuts and the intersection with Lowell St, on the left, yellow sign. They're indie and have a decent stock. For art films, there's a video store in Concord Center that's pretty good, or City Video in Porter.

Mandi = home.
Angel = addictive.
Jell-o = so not my fault ;)
Test = did not make it.
Visits = do not need go-go-go.

We did just fine. I had much fun. Thank you for letting me stay (and you too, boys.) :)
