Long or short? Haircut [poll]

I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow. However, I have not decided to what degree to cut it. I was plagued by dreams about having long hair for weeks until I told my brain "fine. I'll grow it out." The reality of it is, though, that I like my short hair. It's cute, it's mod, it does all those non-verbal cue things that I had missed when I had long hair. But I miss the long hair. I'm not certain I have the patience to wait for it to grow out. It will take a bare min. of a year and half for it to look remotely good- and motorcycle season is not grow-hair-out friendly even a little. So by 1pm tomorrow, I have to decide what to tell my DHR boy: clean it up but leave it to grow out or give me that totally hawt haircut you have me last time. [Poll #1108261][Poll #1108261]

Here's the thing: it's almost winter. In New England.

Grow it out until spring has sprung, and then re-evaluate.

That, and having had both myself, short hair is so much easier to take care of...

After talking to my stylist, he says it's rare for anyone to stick to a grow out schedule for more than a year. I will not have gotten to my goal by then- by a long shot, so I suspect that I'll be staying with the less maintenance short.

Short hair is for Soccer Moms. Long hair is teh hawtness. I also agree with trying it for a while and deciding later.

As a well-known fan of long hair I'd have to say you misunderstand the specific hawtness of short hair in certain places and on certain people.

Then again, I've known some pretty hawt soccer moms...

That's right up there with
'all fish live underwater' and 'all mackerel are fish', my wife will conclude, not that 'all mackerel live underwater', but that 'if she buys kippers it will not rain', or that 'trout live in trees', or even that 'I do not love her any more.'

Thank, you drwex for voicing my thoughts on the hotness of many soccer moms and the validity of short hair and its lack of similarity to (non hot) soccer mom-ness.

Hmm. Never meant to imply that my predilections were anything like logical. I likes what I likes. :) Anyway, what did you ultimately decide?

less off than usual. It is winter after all. However, it's not appreciably different from what I've been doing for the past few years. I expect I'll want a Proper Cut within the month.
