[profile] purple_terror and I went out and acquired half whiskey barrels as an intermediate step to gardening. One that doesn't require building or waiting for building. Also big bonus on being able to move things if need be. [profile] purple_terror came up with a clever sun shade, too. Sidenote: gardening is NOT a cheap hobby, just in case you were wondering. At least not to start.
Barrel 1 is the one that gets the sun screen and it has the bee balm, rose, and (contained) mint. There's enough room under the shade for a second barrel, which is good, because I think I'll be wanting it sooner rather than later.  But in the meantime, I am using the previously used stone-and-bucket structures as added gardening space. Barrel 2 is under some tall shrubberies and houses the lettuce, a sprouted vidalia onion, lavender, and room for more herbs.

OH HAI WOULD YOU LIKE SOME TOMATOS?

I have 24. There were 6 exactly one week ago.

You won't have to from scratch, because I already did. :) They aren't ready to leave the nest, anyway. I'll give you a couple of plants mid-to-late-May if you want them. I really only have room for 5 or so on my back porch. My buckets are still at work, even.

Where did you get the half barrels? I've been interested in those...
