So LJ just told me about this guest feature that lets me know who looks at my journal and shows others who I look at.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm also only 1/3 of the way through my coffee. My first reaction is distrust. Have you already run across this - what do you think?

While I wouldn't say "pervert", I'm leaving it on for approximately the same reasons.

As there are other ways to track whether I've looked at your LJ, I'm not going to worry about LJ telling you I did.

And I figure that nearly everyone who reads mine does so through their friends list (which this does not track, on the assumption that you can see who has you on their friends list) so I doubt it'll be giving me any new information.

Yeah, see, and I am devoted to LJToys (http://ljtoys.org.uk), but somehow that's... different to me. (Maybe because with LJToys I know it's using publicly available information -- and not claiming to draw any verifiable conclusions about who is who, just a bunch of guesswork really -- whereas with the new intra-LJ feature I'd be giving it permission to track me specially? Or because LJToys is at least a bit more obscure and arcane... does it make me feel better that the people who use it are at least going outside normal channels to do so? Hmm.)

So I disabled this.
