It Is Done

The car, she is bought. Well, pending independent mechanic's opinion. [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen is the best at wrangling what can be wrangled, hearing the rattles, whistles and hums that ought not be, finding the best tone to deal with your brand of Car Dealer-creature, for they are many and varied and require a unique touch. I am indebted to him for his willingness to walk through with us on our first car buying experience. I feel like we totally won. Kicked ass and took names, even.

I think I've failed to do much relaxing on this long weekend. I've spent a total of 6 hours helping lbd with the better organization of the shop space. This will be a long, drawn out process, but I think it can be done. So far I've simply been there to listen. Danny already has a very good idea of what needs to be done. He needs someone to do details and keep him on track, which is what I hope I'm doing. I've touched way too much dust since Friday. Really, really.
(Did I ever mention the small conversation I had with our new librarian about how she thought that part of the job description for the archivist should say "no dust allergies"? She did. I suggested that was a bad addition sneeze)

If helping Danny wasn't enough, I have done a major bit of reworking in our computer area at DMH. It had been needing some sort work for many months- a year at least? So, it's a bit better. I reclaimed some space by moving stuff, as is the way. Tomorrow (if I can get to it), I'll shift book shelves. The one we use for oversize and computer books is seriously damaged. It can be the temporary dvd & such shelves until we find one with better dimensions for A/V entertainment. Certanily, the current set of shelves that has the A/V was built for oversize books, so it's a win (I wonder why we didn't set it up the other way originally?). At least when I look over at the work done with the computer games & such, I get happy moments of: "oooooooh, better! yay!" Once I shift shelves, I can finish the purge I'm currently afraid to finish for fear of the shelves falling down.

I've also put together my first compilation in months while I was doing the computer stuff sort. I used to live for making music mixes. I do miss tapes at times when I want to do fade in/out mid-track. I don't love the new software -RecordNow!- but it at least creates a disk without errors. so far. I'm hoping to keep the momentum going and put a few more disks together. One I thought of earlier was sort of "greatest hits ever" of my absolute favorites. That one would be tough. I'd probably have to pick one per artist. If I'm really bored, I'd redo my expurgated Ani disk(s) to get the highlights of the last several albums. At least I don't have to begin at the beginning anymore.

I love hearing you talk about organization! Really, I do. It's hot. mmmmm . . . .

Glad all is well for you. Congrats on the new car. I can't wait to see it :)

Hey, if you want a cheap excuse to make a mix, you could make me one. Things I may not have heard before, but things that either make you think of me or will lead me to think of you. Hrm?

And yay for organization. I did my fair share this weekend, too.
