Small victories
Work had been dealing with some serious retro-internet service. 1994 style. It was horrible. At least back then, it was normal and most of the internet was not part of one's job. So today, it's BACK. Hah!
Theoretically I'm going to Worcester tomorrow morning for a meeting. If the snow doesn't scare the decision-makers away. I'd been trying to organize a ride what with me not having a car and there's no easy way to deal with that train thing. I either show up an hour+ early or half an hour late, and there's no way to get from station to meeting. Not good! However, we have this mini van and q_e will have the plow truck. Smart! I also have plans to have other transport if we are delayed by a week.
Because of this meeting, I was a good and righteous gym-goer (for once) and got up today to make up for the loss of it tomorrow. I've been not very attentive to the gym for about 2 months now and I can feel it. Related: I did get a 10 class prepay for yoga (and paid in to use their mats as I can't be arsed to carry around one more awkward object every time I go). I really like Julia's style, so I default to Wednesday. I can't do some stuff, but it's a good thing to do.
ETA: Also, it looks like my concern re: expiring ATM card was for naught. I actually do have a few more weeks, not one. Yay!!
My weekend looks quiet. This is good. I keep needing to be in bed by 9:30.

Yoga: Day 2
Worlds better.
The bus was only 7 minutes late, making me 10 minutes early.
I was able to talk to the (other) instructor and let her know my limitations
The class size was a teeny bit smaller and the instructor spent a great deal of time walking around and helping the n00bs improve their poses
Mom and Aunt Leslie being the yoga queens they are, I am familiar with a lot of stuff, but don't necessarily have the exactness of a practitioner. However, the poses we were doing this morning reminded me entirely of the ones I used to do as a very small person, which was sort of what I wanted in the first place. I think I'll try Monday again just to have a more balanced experience.
There were stupid-T tricks when I got out. The platform at Davis was overrun. And there's crepes just a few steps outside the station! I do not think I can indulge in a $9 breakfast every time I go to yoga, but it was very nice to sit on the platform and have breakfast and not force myself to be a sardine.
So now I have to decide what the devil to do about a yoga mat. They do have them there, but it's a give-them-a-dollar situation, which adds up. There's the option of leaving one there, but it looks to be for the people who are monthly members, which at this stage I'm not committing to and maintaining a gym membership. However, hauling a yoga mat around back n' forth feels even worse than carrying around a gym towel and workout clothes. Maybe I need to get over it? I wonder if I fold it instead of roll it that I could get it under control. The plight of the carless again is a PITA. I'm not a pack horse I am a free (wo)man! [ /bad Prisoner reference ]

Well, that was humbling
I tried out
beah 's suggested yoga place this morning. Of course the bus, which is normally pretty reasonable, decided to be 15 minutes late, which made me 5 minutes late after wandering up n' down Elm St. trying to find the entrance to the very subtly marked door to the 2nd floor. "We didn't put out the sandwich board because of the rain" (It wasn't raining and hadn't been for at least an hour)- Did I bring my own mat? No. I don't have one. I don't have blocks ner nuthin'. Also, I am entirely not-bendy. I ended up behind a guy who is triangle shaped, about 1% body fat, and could easily be in a tumbling circus group. In fact, for all I know he might already be. Said dude turns out to be someone the instructor knows and apparently she threw in a lot of weird stuff particularly for him. Great.
The instructor's baseline for the class is a lot more than I think I want to do, weird stuff notwithstanding. However, there's also a class Wednesday morning that's run by someone else. I went with an unlimited 2 week pass and maybe I'll find something that is more me. More basic.
I am very resistant to doing things new because I hate-hate-hate this feeling of being a fish out of water, being awkward and confused. But I did it. I will go back and try again- even this class. If the bus lets me.
