I had to. Adorable. Dunno if it'll work for me in the long run as an icon, but formatted it just in case.

1. I went rollerblading outside for the first time this season!! 3 miles and it was almost all work. Ugh.
2. My seasonal HUNGRY has come back. Must be spring. Background- every time the light radically shifts either returning or leaving, I spend a few weeks constantly hungry. Today I marked my calendar, just 4 days later than last year.
3. LJBook. I've decided to give it a shot. The only downside is no icon transferral. But up-side- PDF, table of contents, first 3 are free. I gave them money because I want to fiddle with it. But finally! I can do the archiving of the journal again. My computer did something irritating 2 years ago and I never re-figured out how to reinstall [profile] awfief's solution. So, only something like 400+ pages when it's all said and done.
Yes- I've chosen my career well. I don't think anyone was going to call that into question. It gives my OCD meaning :P
Thanks to [profile] kgola's friend [profile] nyren's query that spurred him to suggest it to me.

The previous post may well be the most edited I've ever done. I'm also at about 90/10 decided not to bother w/ the "strike"

This is a content boosting thing, as I've only seen one mention of it (via [profile] kgola)

The short version is, there is a planned content strike (no comments, posts, feeds) from 12a-12p GMT- I believe that'd be ETA: 6-6 8-8 Eastern. (thanks, weegee and Supercheesegirl)
The whys--
Many in our community are disturbed by high-handed measures being done by LJ admin.
-discontinuing free accounts for new users (nfc re: old free accts)
-making decisions with not much regard to their advisory board
-not enough information sharing with users
ETA: -censoring user interests This bit is called into question

For a more complete write up, visit [personal profile] beckyzoole's posts on the logistics and reasons.

Like I said- signal boosting. I'm not interested in philosophical debates on if this is going to make any difference. You are welcome to debate it on your own page, obvy.
ETA: I'm undecided if I'll actually participate.
ETA: [personal profile] liamstliam has wote a post about this which talks about what's going on and has a level of snark that made me smile a lot
ETA: And [profile] darkrosetiger's side.

For some reason I have a horrible time keeping track of these things, so hopefully this will help.

I am Aaron Sorkin's newest bitch.
DVDs. That reminds me: some folk have borrowed media from me: [profile] bbbsg has Veronica Mars; [personal profile] mzkero has Angel; Someone- I forget who- [personal profile] lifecollage? has my latest Ani Difranco CD. Please check in with me and let me know if you have finished yet and when we can get the diskies back to DMH. The forgetful librarian must be more precise in keeping track of items loaned. Sheesh! I even have a little book for it. Must remember to make use of that section of "Books to Check Out."
Additionally, if you know you have something of mine and I've not mentioned it here, be kind and remind me.

Despite the clamor, I have an almost completely untouched apple pie that needs help eating. Anyone willing to trundle over to my abode for a slice? I even have vanilla ice cream. And will probably have a lot of left over Halloween candy, given we only get about 10 kids on average. Maybe 15 if I'm lucky. Lemme know! Visitors welcome after 7.

+ Indigo Girls with Margaritas first
- Cold cold cold ride home on the motorcycle (well after the margaritas are gone, of course)
- work inconsistencies in Db verification. It's always frustrating, but bad when I run into 3 instances in one day.
++ playing with the structure of LJ. New look (gacked from bbbsg) and then figuring out no, really- you can delete entire tags if you're in the correct space, which is hidden mostly unless you go via FAQ. I think. Anyway. I have been fine tuning. I'm a geek.
- in law and financial stress is teh suck, especially when much of it is intertwined. Not the end of the world by a long shot, but I hate dealing with this stuff even peripherally.

After [personal profile] weegoddess had troubles finding me, let me make sure that nobody else is trying to find me via email account that goes a little something like this: firstname@lastname.com. If you have a gmail address for me, that's the one to keep. mkay thnxbye!

Well, I seem to have gotten all 121 icons I've made or been given (for my use vs. other people's) into an icon gallery. It's viewable through user info and is listed between Memories and Interests.
At this point I'm very limited in what I feel I can add to the (thus far) unsorted gallery, as many of my regular photographs have other people in them, and I need to gather permissions from folk before I post them even privately. Things have a way of being less private than you think, afterall.
I'm at least pleased with the progress I've made so far. Now I have access to my icon obsession no matter what computer I'm using!

In other news, Tapas last night with [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror was great. He even hung out and watched some Veronica Mars with me when I got home. Yay to Veronica, boyfriend, and food (not in that order)!

The infamous red Barbie shoes. The photos from the weekend are low quality, but at least no crossed eyes. I've started fiddling with my Gallery options here on LJ. But since I hate reading directions, I expect I've already made several mistakes that will need to be ironed out. IF I want help, I will ask.

Grand Opening to shut down on Dec 31. Big sale between now and then, ya'll. The link will explain that the store is shutting down, but the online store will remain.

Meta: After I posted earlier, I went through 2004 and 2003 journal entries looking for suspect rants that needed locking and tagging 99% of it all for easier referencing later, I determined that whenever I listen to that compilation tape Dad made, I almost always make note of it here, directly or indirectly.
Travel: after consulting with my MiL, we'll not be headed directly to Kokomo and the hotel tomorrow evening, as my inlaws would already be in bed. 5.5 hour drive. That, and 5.5 hour drive after being in an airplane or airport for 6 hours. So, really, for the best. I remembered to pack the iPod car adaptor and regular recharge unit. 5.5 hours. Just sayin'.
Prep: As usual, I'm very keyed up waiting for this trip to actually start. I hate waiting. So, I've been doing. Like packing. I believe the orignal theory about having no choice about checking luggage is now null. Remove a few boxes, and suddenly it's a lot easier! There is much heroic and triumphant laughter!
Right. Back to that waiting thing.

I had mentioned at some point not that long ago to someone- probably my minion- how cool it would be if you could sort by type of media when cruising one's wishlist. Well, now you can! Not only that, but the categories to sort by are particular to what you have already picked, not all of them. I suddenly think a lot more highly of Amazon.

I've been having 2 very flat days, emotionally. My brain can't focus enough on LJ to absorb anything, so let me know privately if I've missed anything I need to pay attention to.
And now to talk to Canon regarding the non-working-ness of my scanner, something that has monopolized my entire day thus far.
EDIT: Ok! Scanner works again. Whew. Now to slog my way through what I meant to do 9 hours ago!

FYI

mizarchivist: (Jess & irises)
Me and mine are not blowed up. We don't even use gas as a primary utility. go boom. What a damned shame- not only to cause a family to be homeless, but that's a pretty house!

Amber Benson is going to be at the BU Barnes and Noble (660 Beacon St) at 7 PM to promote her new book Ghosts of Albion. My Minion Prime (as opposed to all them minor and temporary minions) will be attending and acquiring a signed copy for Yours Truly, as I have a fish to not fry at Sei Bar with my boyfriend this evening, and then there's that dance class to go to. So, now you all know, too. Carry on!
