short version: I'm pleased )

I must be an adult. I'm looking forward to buying socks and underwear. Dies of shame!
Context Part 1: If I am to wear my winter boots for any length of time, I need wicking socks, or I have slightly damp and therefore cold feet All. Day. This is bad. I must fix this very soon, but not before tomorrow, fer chrissakes. (Hah! Literally!)
Context Part 2: It occured to me that I can buy my utilitarian underwear without going to a box store. I always get the same kind. They sell them online. This also can wait until after tomorrow.

Dr. Horrible! The DVD was released on Friday as an Amazon exclusive. It arrived at work yesterday. R. and I - and eventually [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror went the uber-meta path and watched the musical commentary at lunch. I'm looking forward to going through the non-musical commentary and the making of features. Obviously, I highly recommend. I also need to decide what icon I want from Dr. Horrible. Bad fangirl, no biscuit.

For your entertainment: a friend of mine and I, circa 1995. Ohio University. (as usual, click to embiggen)- the tall, skinny guy in the background is the infamous, archivist-despising Ex

Ohio U 1995

I'm sorry that I no longer have that hippie dress, but it probably was worn to a rag. I still have the jacket, but it's so ragged, it tends to stay in storage. Besides, now I have my Serenity jacket.  Thanks to Miss M. (the one in the hat) for posting this. Pity she's in California, as she was always fun to hang with. We met via [livejournal.com profile] catamy713  in junior high. Speaking of which- catamy! Literally, my first friend ever- we met when we were still in diapers and still talk, although not often enough. She joined our little collective this week. Does the dance of happiness.

Lifespans of friendships...

Strangely, (she says with just the hint of irony-mmmm, iron) I prefer to read vampire books - you know, the kind of vampires that actually suck blood and have sex. None of this pansy glittery kind- over a morality play from 150 years ago on a topic I didn't need convincing over. So, I will continue to read Outlaw Demon Wails- Kim Harrison's latest- over Uncle Tom's Cabin for the duration. The latter is for book group which doesn't meet until January, so... nyah! Vampires and witches win!

It  occured to me yesterday that the closest thing to a craft fair I'd done before this past weekend was Dealer's Row, '01. That event was enough of a failure in my eyes that I unconsciously ignored clay-based crafting for the better part of 5 years. That will not be the case at all this time. I spent a large part of last night making a necklace.  Some major difference between then and now include: no major product manufacturing beforehand, very low overhead, and mostly zen attitude. Bonus: I have Etsy as a potential outlet, too. Getting used to not selling things there (very much) definitely conditioned me to more realistic goals. I do find it an interesting coincidence that my two retail-ish experiments took place during crappy economic times. I was happy enough about yesterday that I treated myself to a -gasp!- $4.05 breakfast.
So, to sum up: Emotional growth for the win! What's the end zone dance for that?

Ok, well now I did.
  • I need to finish packing. I have the t shirt selection figured. It's the dressing up part that has me stymied.
  • I feel much better today- I took the Allegra again, which only lasts 12 hours, but the doc says that I can't take more because that's the limit. Still better alert and snuffly than the walking zombie I was yesterday.
  • I had to bail on coffee with [info]deadwinter last night, which was for the best considering my conversational skills didn't really make a come-back after dinner- not really.
  • My less social activities included filling in the Chinese dragon design on one of my tall square tins. It wraps all the way 'round, but doesn't overlap. I'm hugely pleased with my version of scales. Very much in keeping with the spirit (hah) of this style, too. Pictures will be forthcoming after it's done.
  • [profile] purple_terror and I are watching House season 4- We got out of practice and forgot how painful it can be to watch at times. I'm also watching Burn Notice: cloak and dagger + Miami. Sort of a James Bond blended with the do-goodery of Veronica Mars. I highly recommend. Kitchen Confidential is also funny so far. Hulu for the latter two. I find the Hulu-ness to be good thus far.
  • Pretties (2nd of the Uglies series): read. I've been promised that Specials and Extras are worth it, so I got through. Whiskey and Water will not be such a fast read. Safe to say I need not worry about finishing it before I come back from Atlanta.
  • Snark may have replaced the sleepy factor. It's hard to tell if the snark is dialed up from the new-to-me, scientifically crafted hormones frollicing in my blood stream.

Dear self,
You don't like industrially made snack foods. The cheese danish you think would be good isn't. Too much sugar. Artificial- well, everything and really the consensus is that it's not made with flour but concrete, or at least some sort of putty.

Love,
YT.

On the plus side, I don't feel a need to finish it.

Let's see-- Odds and ends, really:
So yeah. Nothing earth-shatteringly exciting. People keep asking me what's new, and I feel like there's nothing much to say. Shrug

Have you ever felt like the electrons in your body are vibrating around in crazy chaotic patterns to the point you think they must be trying to form a mosh pit in your very bones? That's what mine are doing. I want them to be tranquil and move in more harmonious patterns. Brought to you by the letters "C" (for caffine) and the number pi. Me like pi(e).
